Cellar
You are back in the cellar. You feel a strong compulsion to leave. However
something within you is forcing you to stay. You put your hand inside the writing bureau
drawer again and extract a tattered piece of paper. You strain to read it as it has faded
with age and there is insufficient light. Just then you remember you are carrying a torch
- you use the torch to read the document.
It appears to be a poster advertising an auction of slaves, which apparently took place on 18th May 1829. Charged with enthusiasm by this discovery, you reach back into the drawer again, this time extracting a second piece of paper, which has also become very fragile as a result of age. It appears to be a letter.
You wonder who Isobel and Nathaniel were. You already feel you have outstayed your welcome but you remember that book which appears to be someone's diary. You reach for it again.
