Pulp - A Different Class (Album)

Year of Release: 1995

This is the teen angst album of the year - teeny issues by the crateful are dealt with on this album. However the appeal of the music extends much further than the teen market. My first encounter with Mr. Cocker was on Eddi Reader's music programme (can't recall the name of it at the moment) and I can remember thinking how er … different he was. I have to admit though that I am impressed by his lyrical abilities. His lyrics are simple, yet effective and combined with the punching beats and orchestral backdrop featured on some tracks (e.g. the brilliant "Something Changed") a melodramatic theme is achieved.
